91pro视频鈥檚 President鈥檚 Scholars Program received the 2024 Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Environmental Excellence Award for Higher Education Institution. The program was also nominated for the Environmental Excellence Project of the Year.
During the 2023-2024 academic year, the President Scholar鈥檚 Program focused on water conservation, a critical issue in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, due to water shortages. The students were divided into five groups, each exploring water conservation from a career-related perspective.
鈥淭his program helps the students grow and develop important skills that are valuable beyond the classroom,鈥� said Emilie Dean, program sponsor. 鈥淭he students are encouraged to engage in seminars and give back through service, gaining experiences that will benefit them in their future endeavors.鈥�
The five group topics were reclaiming environments, elementary water conservation demonstration, water conservation in local healthcare, marketing promotion and sponsored community clean-up day. The students conducted research, planning and project execution throughout the year.
鈥淭he program sought to inspire a lifelong dedication to environmental stewardship by immersing the students in real-world challenges,鈥� said Terri Greer, program sponsor. 鈥淚t also emphasized a strong connection to the local community.鈥�
The award celebrates the students鈥� innovative efforts to address critical environmental challenges and commitment to safeguarding Oklahoma鈥檚 natural beauty for future generations.

The students collaborated with the Tishomingo Development Team, Great American Clean-Up and Keep Oklahoma Beautiful grant to organize the Pennington Creek Clean-Up event.
